Galway: Galway Sea Festival

The first ever Galway Sea Festival will take place on the June Bank Holiday Weekend – from Friday 31st May to Monday 3rd June 2013. Celebrating Galway’s unique maritime history and culture, beautiful bay and wonderful waterways, this new festival aims to promote Galway as Ireland’s leading Maritime centre to local, national and international visitors alike.

There will be a big emphasis on food during the festival and a bay wide Seafood Trail of Galway’s finest seafood restaurants will extend out along the Connemara coast to Spiddal and across to Barna and Moycullen. About Town activities will also include a Music Trail featuring many of Galway’s finest music pubs, special performances by Trad on the Prom in Salthill, a one-day revival of the Woodquay Country Market, Marine-themed Street Theatre in the Latin Quarter, Maritime and Heritage Talks, Looped Waterways Walks and a family area at the Docks with fairground attractions and amusements. Woodquay hope to revive the Woodquay Country Market on the Saturday once again and businesses in the West End will combine their efforts to create some exciting nightlife during the festival weekend.
